In early 1995 Tom Cleereman's Social Work Site was created. The founder,
Thomas Cleereman, MSW created the website to provide information and links
to other websites of interest to social workers and other helping professionals.
Over the 2 years that followed, Tom Cleereman's Social Work Site was receiving
approximately 20 e-mails per day and several hundred hits from social workers
and other helping professionals asking for assistance in finding Internet
websites related to Social Work.
In June, 1998 the domain socialworksearch.com was purchased and all
links were transferred and updated manually on a daily basis. Over the
years that followed socialworksearch.com acquired software from hyperseek.com
to provide an automated search system. Many other services became available
including Chat, Online Discussion, and a Social Work Webring.
In 1999 socialworksearch.com began advertising the domain through search
engines and Social Work related websites. It started a Webring service
to link together Social Work related websites all over the world (Social
Work Webring). It also received recognition in several Social Work related
newsletters and provided advertisement coasters in Social Work seminars.
In early 2000 socialworksearch.com began utilizing newer methods of
technology including Mysql and PHP to provide faster, more reliable services
to visitors.
In mid 2000 we worked hard to get socialworksearch.com listed higher
in the major search engines. By September, 2000 socialworksearch.com was
listed within the top 10 of most popular search engines including the top
1 in several of them.
In April, 2001 Linkpopularity.com reported that over 900 different websites
on the Internet provide links to socialworksearch.com. Now this former
tiny personal website became a major portal for the online Social Work
community in providing Internet related services to social workers and
other helping professionals. Socialworksearch.com had grown to over 500
different webpages of services and Internet links offering the largest
online database of services devoted solely to the Social Work profession.
By November, 2005 Linkpopularity.com in association with MSN reported that
3500 different websites on the Internet provide links to socialworksearch.com.
Socialworksearch.com had grown to over 1500 different webpages of services and
Internet links and received almost 1/2 million hits per month! Social Work
Search continues to offer the largest online database of links and other
services devoted solely to the Social Work profession. We are proud to offer
advertisement at the lowest rates on the Internet today, targeting a large
audience of Social Work and related field professionals and students.
